Talk about your experience

Complete each frame with information you can explain. A memorised opening is not useful if the rest of the sentence is unclear.

En général, je…
Introduce a habit, not a one-off event. Example: En général, je cuisine le dimanche.
Ce que j’apprécie surtout, c’est…
Highlight one specific aspect. Example: Ce que j’apprécie surtout, c’est le calme du quartier.
J’ai commencé à… parce que…
Link a starting point to its cause; use an infinitive after à. Example: J’ai commencé à courir parce que je voulais sortir davantage.

Ask and clarify

Use an answer to identify what is still missing. Clarification should connect to the previous turn.

Quelles sont les conditions pour… ?
Ask about relevant conditions. Example: Quelles sont les conditions pour participer à cette sortie ?
Est-ce que le prix comprend… ?
Check a specific inclusion. Example: Est-ce que le prix comprend le repas ?
Quand vous dites…, qu’est-ce que vous voulez dire exactement ?
Clarify a word the other person actually used. Example: Quand vous dites « flexible », qu’est-ce que vous voulez dire exactement ?
Si je comprends bien,… C’est bien cela ?
Check your understanding without adding invented details. Example: Si je comprends bien, il faut réserver avant jeudi. C’est bien cela ?
Pourriez-vous répéter la dernière partie, s’il vous plaît ?
Request the missed part, then listen before answering; this is not a request for a model answer.

Give reasons and qualify

Connectors must express a real relationship. “Cependant” should introduce a contrast or limit, not repeat the same claim.

À mon avis,…
State a position, then support it. Example: À mon avis, les parcs sont essentiels dans une ville.
L’une des raisons est que…
Explain a reason; follow que with a complete clause. Example: L’une des raisons est que les habitants peuvent s’y retrouver.
Prenons un exemple concret :…
Illustrate the preceding reason. Example: Prenons un exemple concret : des voisins peuvent organiser un pique-nique au parc.
C’est vrai que…, mais…
Acknowledge a point before a relevant qualification. Example: C’est vrai que le train coûte plus cher, mais il arrive plus tôt.
Cela dépend notamment de…
Name the factor, then explain its effect. Example: Cela dépend notamment de la distance entre le bureau et le domicile.
Dans ce cas, il serait préférable de…
Suggest a response to that situation; use an infinitive after de. Example: Dans ce cas, il serait préférable de partir plus tôt.

Turn a phrase into a skill

Use one frame in three situations. Next, look only at its purpose. Finally, change topic and remove prompts. Check sentence completion, verb–preposition combinations and consistent register.

Use vous when the role calls for a formal exchange. These are platform teaching examples, not predicted questions or guaranteed-score templates.

Platform practice method

Add another relevant point

Use De plus for a genuinely additional point. If both sentences mean “it is good”, give an example instead of adding another connector.

Le cours est proche de chez moi. De plus, il a lieu le soir.
Location and timing are two separate advantages.

Platform practice method

Compare like with like

Use the same criterion for both options: cost, time or convenience. After a comparison, explain why that difference matters to the decision.

Le bus est moins cher que le taxi, mais le trajet est plus long.
Separate cost from travel time instead of declaring one option universally better.

Platform practice method

Express the strength of an opinion

Choose a degree of agreement you can explain. Plutôt is useful for a qualified position, but it still needs a reason or a boundary.

Je suis plutôt d’accord, à condition que chacun puisse choisir.
The condition explains the limit of agreement.

Platform practice method

Buy a brief moment to think

A short thinking phrase can help you organise the first point. Avoid filling the answer with repeated introductions; follow the phrase with an actual response.

C’est une question intéressante. Je dirais que cela dépend du trajet.
The thinking phrase leads straight to a specific consideration.
